What the installer does
- It copies the app to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Shimeji Desktop Reloaded, for your Windows account only. - It adds Shimeji Desktop Reloaded to the Start menu, and to the desktop if you tick the box.
- From then on, the app starts with Windows, quietly, next to the clock. You can turn that off in the settings.
- Your settings and the characters you add go to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Shimeji Desktop Reloaded. They’re kept when you update the app.
The settings window uses Microsoft Edge WebView2, which comes with Windows 11 and most Windows 10 PCs. If it’s missing, the installer offers to open its download page.
